5th Street Christmas

I took Mak for an evening walk, and to do some window shopping in our down town core, which is by the way 3 blocks long!  We live in a small town...  The stores on this street are all locally owned and it's very festive this time of year. Since it's dark so early, you get to enjoy all the christmas lights and decorations, and the street plays Christmas music. I used to work in one of the home interior stores called Tab Imports, which sells imports from Bali, and interior decorations from Abbott and such companies. I would Love to have my own interior decor store one day!  anyways these are just some pictures I took that night.

Owl craft

So I felt a little crafty today, and made this little owl. I had no pattern to follow so I had to make it up. My Fiancee says it looks like a bird, because owls have no necks, so next time I hope it works out better!  When I was done I also attached the pink ribbon on it's head to make it a bird instead of an owl. Let me know what you think looks better.

Feather Earrings

I've been making feather earrings lately, and they always add a sleek look to an outfit. I'm always looking for things to hang my jewelry off, and I found this cute stand with birds on it at Winners which works perfect!

Peacock

I LOVE painting but unfortunately with a 9 month old I can't seem to find the time right now. My mother and I did some art class's together a while ago at a cute little hall. I found a great photograph of a peacock and ended up painting it. I had such a great time, and am hoping to start again sometime soon! Once I have my craft room set up I'm hoping I can squeeze some time in while my little man is asleep.

Mucha Art

Today is all about Mucha, my all time favorite artist.
Alphonse Mucha was born in Moravia , Czechoslovakia (Czech Rep.) Born 1860-1939
Moved to paris in 1887 and is known for helping shape the French Art Nouveau Movement at the turn of the century.

I'm getting excited, I think we are going to convert our bottom bedroom into a craft / child room! It will be perfect for Mak and I !!! Hopefully I will have some pictures soon.

Makeef's Nursery

I got a projector from a friend and projected the lower image onto the wall and painted the trees with the birds. It gives the room such character, when my son nurses at night he always looks at the trees. There's 2 owls hanging in the branches on the night stand. I got them at the Coombs Market here on Vancouver Island. They are hand made out of wood pieces and such things, soo cute!
It's hard to tell from this picture, but I took the toys off the mobile and sewed my own. To add to the forest creature theme I made an owl, fox, and a tree. I also attached little painted wood bird houses. It's still above the crib now, he still loves watching them ( even though he can reach them now and has torn the tree off)
The owl that's sitting on the chair in the top photo is also something I made. Everything is made front felt and I stuffed them with plastic bags. Haha good way to recycle I guess.

Cheers!

Beautiful patterns

Today I've spent most of my day working on the design of my blog and surfing blogs, and came across these beautiful designs. They are linen fabrics from a store called Habitat, which I believe is in Britain. These images are from the blog Print Pattern which I'd like to share with you. All the prints and patterns are so inspiring, they make me just want to decorate and design!

Pecan Salad

I made this salad the other night for my fiancee and I, it turned out so delicious!  I accidentally made to much, but we ate the whole bowl, and could have eaten more! It was soo full of flavor, and the nice thing about it is you can substitute it with other fruits like apple, grapes, ect.   mmm I hope you enjoy, I know we sure did and I'm making more tonight!!!

                        Salad
Green leaf lettuce
1 Bartlett pear
1 Mandarin orange
1 Carrot
Handful of Pecans
Handful soft unripened Goat cheese

                     Dressing
3 Tbls Balsamic vinegar
1 1/2 Tbls white wine
2 Tbls olive oil
1 Tsp whole gain Dijon
Clove of garlic diced fine
Salt and Pepper to liking

Rinse and rip salad into small pieces, make sure it's completely dry. Quarter the pear and core it, next slice it into thin strips. Peal the mandarine and cut each piece into 3 or 4 depending on the size you like. Peal the carrot and chop it finely, and cut the pecans in half. Throw everything on top of the lettuce, and then crumble the goat cheese onto that. Mix together your salad dressing and toss before eating. Depending on how much dressing you like, you may want to make more.

Times flying by so fast my little man is 9 months old today!!!
